Under bonnet video- Test drive was exactly the same route but gear changes at slightly different times because my foot felt heavier with the powerflex mount installed. Very interesting results. 43% less movement!!

My first video, it's a bit slow and boring. But was a good test. On an engine with hydraulically adjusted valve clearance, the rocker cover gasket may never get changed in routine maintenance. The gasket on this car hasn't been changed for 120,000km's and was leaking quite badly. New gasket = cleaner engine bay :)

Excellent work and rare tutorial! All that’s missing is a tutorial on changing the valve end seals with disassembly of the cylinder head and everything would be perfect!

320bhp but it's the torque that will snap a rod not the bhp ,a good vxr tunner will know when to cap the torque

Hello Chris I have a question. When changing the upper sump gasket. Is it possible just to disconnect prefer from exhaust manifold and have it hanging down / supported below. Rather than remove entire thing from centre action? Please reply
If you mean leaving the precat hanging from the turbo, then yes.
Thanks for the response. Yes I meant the precat disconnected from the turbo. do you think I’ll able to remove the upper sump? , just by having the exhaust hanging down from precat ( whilst still connected to centre section). I have the z20lel version. Many thanks
As not really keen on spending a day fighting with rusted bolts on centre section. As you have more expertise - I thought I’d ask you if it’s possible to do it just by disconnecting the precat section only.

@@omarismith3655 mate, I've never removed the sump and I've not worked on this car for a very long time, so unfortunately can't advise on that. Sorry. You'll have to take it as it comes and if you have to fight with rusty bolts, use lots of wd40 and give it time to soak in.

Hey, Nice video! what type of silicone do you use?
I have Z20LET still ok at the moment my turbo is but this video is definatly going to help me in future as im looking at upgrading to the VXR turbo. Their a straight fit and basically same engine apart from a few upgrades like forged pistons,under piston oil etc etc. Excellent video though. Check CS Autos in Liverppol for all GSI,SRI,VXR Parts.

Has it started to leak again? Because my one didn't stop the likeage after the gasket change, so I think that the cover is probably deformed, and it is maybe commom on this engine.
